    The Sport Management Club at Syracuse University will hold its seventh annual Charity Sports Auction in conjunction with the Syracuse University men’s basketball game on December 10, 2011.

    To date, this student organization (one of the largest on campus) has raised over $125,000 for nonprofit organizations throughout our community to include the Boys and Girls Clubs, American Diabetes Association, Golisano Children’s Hospital at Upstate, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York and the Central New York SPCA.  This year’s beneficiary will be the Upstate Cancer Center.

    Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in New York and the United States.  One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes.  Slated to open in 2013, the Upstate Cancer Center will be the region’s most comprehensive resource for the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship of cancer and related disorders.  Upstate is also the only place in Central New York that cares for children with cancer.  The Sport Management Club is working to make this “green” facility a reality and “Give Hope a New Home,” but we need YOUR help.

    Currently, the Sport Management Club is actively soliciting donations.  Your generosity will help ensure the success of this annual event as we strive to exceed all previous records for total auction items and funding raised to support a charitable organization.  The auction will showcase your generous contribution to the thousands of guests in attendance, providing your organization with valuable exposure and helping to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
